Some weeks ago Hubby and I traveled to San Diego it was a completely unplanned trip. I was off from work & just wanted to enjoy my day. After all I do live in LA now, so what's Jodie's next thought hey, let's travel. It was July 26th I just got paid and I had a hike scheduled with the Tin Cup liquor company in Calabasas. I was really looking forward to that hike but my energy was low and I didn't quite feel like hiking so I canceled and decided to drive out to San Diego. There were no trip plans made, no hotel scheduled we just hopped in the car googled the first thing that came up which was Old Town and set off.
It was the most peaceful ride with the most beautiful scenery! We pulled in about 7pm after leaving LA at 4pm. Google maps screamed "you've reached your destination" We looked at each other and said ok we are where we are and climbed out the car. We walked into old town San Diego, it was so cute it looked like an actual little old Mexican town it was super lit too! We took some pictures, video & paid homage to the ancient trees. The next mission was to locate a hotel. Not before hubby said "Baby look!" all excited, I turned around & BAM a giant fireworks show started out of now where a few miles away. I laughed, random fireworks on a Wednesday, what a trip. We ended up staying at the Berkshire Motor Hotel. Their rates were reasonable & we were just looking for a place to crash so we could be nice & rested to do some more adventuring the following day.
We decided to take a walk before we ended the night. I was so excited that there was a Denny's across the street from the hotel. I love Denny's and I haven't eaten at one since I been in California. We also stopped a a local bar to have a beer. I forgot the name of the bar it was a lil lit & the beer, was very tasty. Smh I have to get better with my details just in case you ever wanna visit. The next morning we checked out at 11am & went to Denny's! After that we went and chilled at Ocean Beach which turned out to be a series of cliffs & caves it was such a beautiful sight. I even saw the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life, I think it was cuter than babies! It was a mini crab eating, It had a tiny open shell in it's mini claw and was taking pieces of the tiny food and just eating. I was like awwww look at him living his tiny life.
As we moved further down the beach we saw people diving off the cliffs into the water. This life guard came speeding on his jet ski out of nowhere to check them & no sooner than he left they were right back at it. After we left there we went to La Jolla beach to see what was popping. That beach was super crowded and everyone was definitely there to have a good time. We took in some sights then decided to go to the movies. We stopped by the World Market & brought some organic strawberry creme marshmallows. They tasted alright nothing to write home about. We went to Whole Foods Market as well because we wanted to see what kind of food they have at their self serve. To date Philadelphia Whole Foods has the best and San Diego comes in at a strong second, LA is third on this list.
We ended up seeing the Barbie Movie which was absolutely amazing considering I thought it was going to be mad corny, I was pleasantly surprised and the fact that hubby loved it too was great! I used to be in love with Barbie growing up. We drove back to LA with me asleep in the back seat because I had to be to work by Midnight. My one & a half day in San Diego was worth the trip & I can't wait to go back to visit the Zoo.
