Counting by 7s (Book 4)

Remember book reports when we were in school? For some they were a dreaded terrible thing, for others they were fun ways to recall your favorite book and an easy format to tell someone what the book was about. I've decided to post some reports of my favorite books; let's jump right in.

This was another book that I picked out of the little neighborhood outside library. It's a book for young people I guess, but I absolutely loved the story & related a lot to dealing with unexpected circumstances, the trauma associated with starting over & coming into the realization that we can.

Author:  Holly Goldberg Sloan

Title:  Counting by 7s

Main Characters:  Willow Chance, Dell Duke, Mai, Quang-ha, Pattie & the Taxi driver

Setting:    Bakersfield, California

Plot:  This book touches mainly on loss & change from the perspective of a 12 year old girl and how she managed to show courage in the face of disaster. Love & team work were prominent in this story as well and it showed a clear description of what can happen when people work together using these morals & values.

Personal Endorsement:  This is one of the many books I've read that was written for the youth and it completely blew my mind. Even though up till now I've never experienced a loved one dying unexpectedly before; especially not at a young age. I was still able to relate to that deep feeling of loss & the changes that happen in life because of it;  also how one will never be the same again. This was a tear jerker an a very emotional journey to take with a child. There were moments I just wanted to jump into the book and console her but I had to have the courage to keep reading. Even tho I was feeling sad with her happiness managed to shine through, like it has a habit of doing if we let it. I give this book 5 STARS and will be looking forward to possibly reading another book from this Author.

When it comes to books I read what the spirits put before me!

A Recovery Love Story

Thank you Cliff for allowing me to write the love story of you & your Beautiful wife! I found this just tear jerking ❤️        There was a time in my life when my one true love was wine and spirits. I mean I knew drinking wasn't good for me & I played around with the thought of stopping every once in a while, but never enough for anything to stick. I wasn't the AA type of guy, I didn't feel the need to express my problems with a group of people. I didn't think that would be my route to recovery if I ever decided to stop. What I didn't know was that I was right. One day I was driving, on my way to take myself fishing. I had a 12 pack of Bud Light in my ice chest in the trunk. As I was driving I couldn't wait to pop a can open & feel that cold refreshing taste.      As I drove I passed a church tent revival. I slowed down for no particular reason & laughed to myself. I guess I caught them in a moment. Watching them as they were run...

Finding Self PT 10 (Watch Me Flow)

After the injury everything changed. Being laid up like that with no help. I had to hobble to the market only to be ran over by crowds of people that I couldn't keep up with. Being left by the Lyft because the driver couldn't figure out how to come around the corner. Just feeling helpless, abandoned and stranded. Feelings like this will put things in a different perspective really fast. Some people out there have major support and people around to help when things get tough and some people simply just don't. For me I'm one of the one's that don't but I find that strangers are always kinder to me than my own family who is by society's standards supposed to be our first safety net & supporters.       N-E-how being laid up like that and alone I had more uninterrupted time to think than I ever did in my life. Self reflection questions that I never even thought of started to pop into my mind. The first one was career wise. The question was ...
